Photo Essay: Street Cats of Turkey

While it is common to see many stray dogs roaming the streets of the world while travelling, it has been rare to see many street cats. That is until my recent trip to Turkey, where you see cats on the street and at all the tourist sites. And its not just Van cats (wikipedia) which are treasured in Turkey for their odd eyed colouring but all shapes and sizes.

Below I have included some of my cat photos from my visit to Turkey. Additionally, I wondered if  it was common to photograph cats at the Turkish tourist sites so using Flickr I did a search and have linked to some them below as well.

Photo Essay: My Hour With The Gorillas In Rwanda

On my trip to Rwanda I had the opportunity to visit the Mountain Gorillas at Volcanoes NP. It was well worth the physical effort (we climbed ~600m) to see them and even though you are only allowed an hour with them per day, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. As one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom you can see many of our habits and mannerisms in them and you leave with a deeper understanding of them and by extension us.
